CarboFend vs. CarboKev
Here at Carbon Fiber Gear, we make 2 types of iPhone cases called the CarboFend and CarboKev. I’ll get into more specifics, but the main difference is that CarboFend is meant to be more protective and CarboKev is meant to minimal.
CarboFend
Our CarboFend cases are made with a protective TPU shell with built-in shock absorbers. The case contains a small lip that is raised above the screen if you were to set your phone face down, it would be sitting on the case and not the screen. The back of the case contains an inlay of real carbon fiber.
For those that want carbon fiber, but also want some additional protection, the CarboFend series is for you.
CarboKev
Our CarboKev series of cases are made from 100% aramid fiber. Aramid fiber is the same material used in KEVLAR®, just without the brand name. We do this because a full carbon fiber case can cause reception blocking issues. We've opted for this alternative material that looks identical and is in the same advanced composite family. The difference is that aramid fibers are non-conductive, unlike carbon fiber, which is what causes the issue.
The CarboKev case is very thin and very light, so it adds essentially no bulk to the phone, yet transforms the look and offers scratch protection. The case is geared to the person who wants a minimalist case that upgrades the aesthetic with a very cool material. It does not have a lip over the screen, so we do recommend using a screen protector.
Both cases are compatible with wireless charging
